How can I become a member of COSON?
Membership of COSON does not cost one naira! It is presently free for all authors, composers of music, publishers of music and owners of copyright in sound recordings exercising such rights through publishers. The process of becoming a member is as simple as ABC:

Get a form from our office at No. 25 Omodara Street , off Ajanaku Street, Awuse Estate, Opebi,  Ikeja, Lagos , Nigeria , fill and submit same with two passport sized photographs and copies of your published works on tape, CDs, LPs or in any other format. Why should a music copyright owner join COSON?
No individual copyright owner has the resources to monitor and license the use made of his works by hundreds of broadcasting stations, thousands of hotels and nightclubs, tens of thousands of restaurants, etc. It is only a society like COSON with its power that can bring together the resources to ensure that the copyright owner receives royalties for the many uses of his work.

COSON is transparent. There are no secrets in COSON. Members, who are the owners of the society, have every freedom to pose ANY questions and get answers directly from the Management, the Interim Management Board or at the COSON Members' Forum.

COSON is accountable. The society is closely monitored by the Board to ensure that every kobo collected is accounted for. There are no stories, no ‘ifs’, and no ‘buts’. Once money is collected, royalties are distributed to members.

COSON is broad-based. Practically every known group with visible interest with respect to copyright in musical works and sound recordings in Nigeria is represented on the Board of COSON.
